DATA, DATA EVERYWHERE
Moving from one place to another does not happen very often, however we are starting to see a shift from what was the on-premise systems, servers and services to an offsite service provider (aka The Cloud).
It is crucial as a business starts to explore these options that they fully understand the costs, benefits and risks associated with an off-premise solution. Including government regulations, privacy, and data retention policies that some organizations must adhere to.
Once all the discovery, planning has been completed - moving to an off-premise solutions needs to be handled with due diligence and care.
Virtual Offices - Private Cloud - Private Infrastructure
We have migrated clients data from on-premise servers and computers to full private cloud based solutions. We have provisioned complete virtual office environments into our Private Canadian Data Center whereby all users no longer use their desktop computers, but instead remotely log into high performance servers to work in. This allows for many things to occur:
- Data is centrally isolated, controlled and backed up. Thereby effectively restricting access, and providing secure methods to store and access data.
- Users perform computational tasks on hardware that is reserved for high end, high performance computing, the likes would be too expensive to purchase for the average user. This results in tasks happening at speeds that improves efficiency and capacity.
- Lowers and sometimes eliminates the costs of ongoing purchases of new desktops or workstations, and eliminates the needs for servers, file-servers and other related hardware and software.
Migrations from on-premise e-mail and Exchange Servers
Moving data is a delicate process, which requires a skill set that understands how data is configured and stored. Moving live e-mail servers and systems should be handled with the utmost care to avoid data loss, and to ensure that information continues to flow.
We have migrated complete office email servers to Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange) and Google Suite (G Suite). Moving to a cloud hosted email service is achievable and not costly when done carefully and correctly.
The benefits of an off-site email service such as O365 and Gmail is that the total cost of ownership that you would normally have to purchase, maintain, upgrade and support is reduced. The TCO is now absorbed into a monthly fee you pay for the service ($5-$15/mth/user).
